something to start with: a proposed outline of topics
20110303 - To kick things off and give content contributers something to start working with, I added Tom Hickey's suggested outline of topics. -- selise
does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts to share on overall content organization, especially wrt reader navigation? it can always be changed around later... but no harm in thinking ahead too.... -- selise 17:49, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
I do. I think all the Inflations can be lumped together - Inflation, Accelerating and Decelerating Inflation (disinflation?), Hyperinflation, Deflation, Accelerating and Decelerating Deflation, as well as Supply Side Shocks (Inflation). Supply Shocks may be worth doing separately, I'm not sure... Senexx 08:04, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
What is the difference between >> editing & [edit] as they seem to take me to two different places but I'm only interested in writing the same thing? --Senexx 09:24, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

question on removal of "MMT Topic Outline" section header
tom, when you added the topic, "MMT and the Open Economy," to the main page you also deleted the section header, "MMT Topic Outline." was that an intentional change? selise 14:10, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
additional topic? - intro to double entry bookkeeping, balance sheet accounting
the issues double entry bookkeeping and basic balance sheet accounting are so central to understanding much of MMT material, that i think the wiki needs some kind of intro to accounting base on MMT concepts.
not sure where to put it... and also, wondering if there aren't some other topics like this. if so, maybe a "tools" section would work?
--selise 01:57, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Agree that double-entry / debits and credits are an essential pre-condition. Not much point trying to understand MMT without having this down first. I would go further - there should be a section on Sector Financial Balances; sadly, there isn't even a Wikipedia page on this, just a couple of flawed pages on Twin Deficits. --User/Anders
additional topic? "Criticisms of MMT"
I would like to see a separate section which lists all of the various critiques of MMT and then debunks them, starting with the "Zimbabwe critique", the "big government" critique etc. What do people think? --User/Anders
- i think it sounds like a great idea to list and address various critiques of MMT. thanks! are you ok with starting a new page and adding a link to the main page? you don't need permission or anything to start editing or adding to mmtwiki (just in case you thought that), but if you'd prefer, i can add a page to start with, if you'd like.
- p.s. there is a (low volume) email list, mmtwiki-l (registration at the link), where you are likely to get more of a response to questions.

MMT at Wikiversity
Hi, I'm unofficially maintaining the economics section of Wikiversity, a sister project to Wikipedia. We're in desperate need of people to create and edit economics content (I'm basically the only contributor right now). I'm currently working on a course in Steve Keen's circuit model and would like to do some stuff on MMT and other Post Keynesian topics but lack the time. Copying some of the content here to Wikiversity could help in spreading the word (especially to people not already familiar with the subject) and would make the economics section a bit less barren and lonely. If anyone has the time to contribute, please stop by! --Rf 23:32, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- howdy Rf. thanks for your interest in mmt, comment, and work at wikiversity -- i'll pass your comment on.
- as you can see, most of the pages here are still labeled with the "Page Under Construction" template -- so they are not yet ready for copying to wikiversity (or other sites). our intention is to have MMT experts review and approve pages prior to removing the "Page Under Construction." also, i hope, to incorporate l. randall wray's primer (which may be a good reference for you, if you don't already have it).

Q on MMT news & events
as "MMT news & events" is primarily time sensitive info rather than reference material, i wonder if it wouldn't be easier/better to use a combination of the blog and forum instead of the wiki for this? for an example, see recent blog posts (oct 17- oct 20) with straight up info wo commentary for MMT events and info and forum for MMT in the news. --selise 15:34, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- Sounds fine with me. But why both blog and forum? Forum is for "anyone" and blog is for "Wiki admins"?
- --HugoHeden 19:22, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- well, not exactly sure what i was thinking wrt "why both"... i don't think blog posting has to (or should) be limited to admin... but still the blog is different than an open forum where not even registration is required to post. so that, i suppose, is one reason: but if the blog is used to post mmt info instead of the wiki, my preference is to also have somewhere that's open for anyone to post. and also, front page posts could be info oriented while the forum could be available for info as well as media coverage, commentary, opinion, rants and so forth (if anyone wants to use them for that purpose). finally, the blog has far more functionality (both in core and via mature plugins) for creating posts than the forums do and i don't really expect that to change (my impression is the wordpress development path for forums is towards social networking while blogs are more of a publishing platform -- you can see a bit of the social networking development at the test site where i've installed buddypress).
- basically, it seemed to me as i started to update the MMT News & Events section that a wiki wasn't the best tool. blog and/or forum seem better, but i'm not sure after that. am willing to try out different ideas for evaluation if you (or anyone else) has suggestions.

- All good!
- --HugoHeden 12:50, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- LOL! now i'm having doubts again.... perhaps not a big deal, but it's irking me. i don't like the idea of readers having to go to three places to check for updates (and not even having a clear set of links to know where to go). hmmm..... thinking some more (w/o success) on better way to organize info and site. will ponder some more (on better way to organize info and site) and maybe send an email to list for suggestions and/or preferences. --selise 15:28, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, think and maybe email, sounds good! Perhaps just skip the blog and go with the forum..? Hmm, maybe not though..? Arghh
