MMTWiki:Style guide

Introduction
The following is a draft[nb 1] style guide for MMT Wiki articles on section organization and wiki markup syntax for references [nb 2] and is based on Wikipedia style and templates. [1][2]
Section Organization
Section headings
Section headings are used only for organizing article content (not for emphasis!) and should be nested sequentially (see example below) beginning with level 2 (==) for top level sections and level 3 (==) for sub-sections. Level 6 (======), the lowest level heading. Level 1 (=) is reserved for the auto-generated page title).
==Section== ===Sub-section=== ==Section== ===Sub-section=== ====Sub-sub-section==== ===Sub-section=== ==Section== ==Section==
Section order
The main sections are listed below. Note that not all of the sections need be used on every page.
== Introduction == == Page topic section 1 Heading == . . . == Page topic section n Heading == == See also == == Notes == == References == == Further reading ==
Using references
When an assertion is made, especially a claim about someone's else's view, a citation needs to be provided, or [citation needed] appended as in Wikipedia, so it can be filled in later.
In addition to text embedded hyperlinks, there are four main categories of references, each having its own section and heading:
- See also: List of bullet points to internal links.
- Notes: List of numbered notes cited within the article text. Use <references group="nb" />
- References: List of numbered references cited within the article text. Use <references />.
- Further reading: List of bullet points to external references on topic, but not specifically cited in the text.

Notes
- ↑ Please edit, change or substitute at will
- ↑ I'm probably the last person who should be writing a style guide -- my grammar, punctuation, spelling and even use of the shift key are frequently problematic. So, of necessity, the first draft will focus only on the mundane: 1) section outline and 2) references.
